CO-ORDINATOR

The purpose of this position is to give administrative and professional support to the Director of the Directorate, the Deputy Director and the other staff of the Directorate : Music.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

·      BMus or BA Mus tertiary qualification.

·      Extensive knowledge of the UNISA graded Music Examinations system.

·      Computer literacy in respect of the following office automation packages:

     MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Sibelius Music Notation (relevant test may be conducted)

·     Proven record in successfully planning, scheduling, controlling and implementing music projects.

·      Ability to work independently and accurately.

·      Good organizational, administrative and analytical skills.

·      Good written and verbal communication skills.

·      Good interpersonal relations.

·      Ability to work under pressure, adhere to deadlines and to maintain confidentiality.

·     Proficiency in English and acceptable working knowledge of Afrikaans (almost 60% of the Directorate’s client base is still Afrikaans speaking).

·      Five years experience in an administrative/professional capacity (preferably in a music teaching environment).

·      Must be available to work after hours when required.

 

RECOMMENDATIONS

·        Experience as a music teacher

·        Experience as a music examiner/adjudicator

·        Editorial skills

·        Knowledge of other music genres:  African music, military music, jazz.

·        Experience with Unisa Graded System

 

DUTIES

·        Prepare, compile and implement tours of practical music examiners

·        Liaise with music examiners, music teachers, music candidates and other external and internal stakeholders.

·        Assist the professional staff with compiling syllabi

·        Custodian of confidential practical examination material

·        General and specialized word processing (Sibelius Music Programme) and data capturing.

·        Organisation of music courses and workshops.

·        Assist with the organization of other major music projects e.g. music competitions.

·        Assist with the registration of examination candidates

·        Assist with the processing and releasing of examination results

·        Assist with marking of theory papers

 

 

Assumption of duty:   As soon as possible

Salary:                         Remuneration is commensurate with the seniority of the position
