Information Resources Purchaser

The purpose of this post is to procure all information resources for the Unisa Library in order to provide and maintain a high quality asset (print/digital) base for the academic information services appropriate to the needs of the University community.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Matric plus post Matric qualification in purchasing
  • At least 2years experience in the Information Services Industry in an ordering or accessioning role.

·         Use of Integrated Library System (ILS) (Acquisitions and Serials at advanced searching at intermediate level and the rest at basic level)

·         Knowledge of all Library services but asset management at intermediate level

·         Knowledge of interfacing areas / systems e.g. accounting procedures, auditing (basic)

·         Knowledge and understanding of Library Procurement processes

·         Operational knowledge of vendors and their services

·         Use of appropriate technology (e.g. Internet, EDI, databases and word processing and spreadsheet packages)

·         Knowledge of purchasing documentation

·         Interpretation of invoices, statements, delivery notes, renewals, approval notes, etc.

·         Knowledge of bibliographic terminology, formats and data

·         Knowledge and understanding of electronic interfaces

·         Knowledge of good business practices e.g. in letter writing, in telephone conversations and in business relationships

Recommendations

 

  • At least 2 years experience in the Information Services Industry in an ordering or accessioning role.

·         Order changes

·         Operational vendor liaison

·         Payments

·         Returns, claims and cancellations

 

 

 

Assumption of duty:    As soon as possible.

Salary:                         Remuneration is commensurate with the seniority of the position
