Supervisor: Shelf Ready Processing and Digitizing (Scanning)

The purpose of the job is to:

 

·       To retrieve, prepare and scan information resources, in order to make relevant study and   research information available for online access, downloading and printing

·       To assist the Cataloguer Digital Resources by performing digitization duties

·       To coordinate shelf-ready processing

 

Requirements:

 

  • A National Diploma in Library and Information Studies
  • Two (2) years relevant library experience

·       Knowledge and understanding of scanning software and scanners e.g.

v    ability to produce images that meet the specification on requirements

v    ability to improve the images of poor originals

v    ability to use the software effectively

·       Knowledge and understanding of digitization processes (scanning, file conversions)

·       Knowledge and understanding of IT related processes (creation of backup copies, combining files, creating folders)

·       Knowledge and understanding of spine labelling process and spine labelling standards

  • Knowledge and understanding of the INNOPAC Library System cataloguing module
  • Knowledge and understanding of time management
  • Knowledge and understanding of co-ordination activities

  • Courses relevant to digitization i.e. Basic Records Management

Prepare resources for digitisation

Assumption of duty:    As soon as possible.

Salary:                         Remuneration is commensurate with the seniority of the position
