DEPUTY DIRECTOR: NETWORKS AND COMMUNICATION

(Ref ICT Infra/Dep Dir: Netw &  Com/P5/June11/st-2)

 

The purpose of this position is to

 

ü  Manage a team of experts to deploy and support an effective, stable and secure digital communications and network infrastructure inclusive of  services such as (and not limited to) telecommunication, email, internet and office automation facilities

 

ü  Ensure connectivity of all computers and devices connected to the UNISA digital infrastructure and include decentralized infrastructures and services at regional/remote offices, learner resource centers and student computer laboratories

 

ü  Manage and coordinate the following sections:

Ø  Network installation and maintenance

Ø  Network Security Management

Ø  Telephony

Ø  User accounting and capacity management

 

Requirements

·         Relevant three-year degree qualification at Tertiary level

·         Five years extensive experience in a computer industry, plus five years  relevant managerial experience of technical sections

·         Extensive knowledge and understanding of state of the art technologies  and solutions related to network and communication infrastructures

·         Broad knowledge of ICT networks and communication policies and best practices

·         Knowledge of risk management and ability to manage projects within specified deadlines

·         Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)

·         Ability to maintain sound human relations and transfer skills and knowledge

·         Must have strong decision making and budget control skills

 

Recommendations

·         Experience in a Tertiary environment

 

Duties 

·         Ensure strategic planning and constant awareness of new technologies

·         Participate on a strategic level in support of  ICT governance of networks and communication policies and best practices

·         Monitor and co-ordinate the operational management of ICT sections

·         Research, implement and ensure that ICT policies and procedures are adhered to by users

·         Provide Service Level Agreements and ensure quality of services of  service providers

·         Ensure effective financial and Human Resources  management of the division

·         Ensure effective communication with all stakeholders

 

     Assumption of duty : As soon as possible.    

Salary                           : Remuneration is commensurate with the seniority of the position
