HEAD:  INSTITUTE FOR OPEN AND DISTANCE LEARNING (IODL)

 

CANDIDATES WILL BE APPOINTED IN A SUBSTANTIVE POSITION AS A PROFESSOR, OR IN AN EXCEPTIONAL CASE, AN ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR. THE INCUMBENT WILL BE SECONDED TO THE POSITION OF HEAD OF THE INSTITUTE FOR A PERIOD OF THREE YEARS

The appointee will be accountable for the provision of strong academic leadership in line with the vision, mission, values, principles and codes of practice of UNISA, as well as its Strategic Plan. Through effective leadership, management and development of the Institute, the achievement and maintenance of the highest possible standards of excellence in all activities of the Institute must be ensured. 

 

Requirements:

 

·         Ability to develop and implement a strategic vision and mission for Institute for Open and Distance Learning.

·         Provide innovative leadership in initiating, developing and reviewing academic programmes and research projects in open and distance learning.

·         Ability to work in teams; and good interpersonal, communication skills and resourcefulness.

·         Ability to lead and manage a diverse group of academics.

·         Demonstrate competencies and skills in change management in higher education.

·         Proven experience in liaising with stake holders.

 

 


 

Key Duties: 

 

Candidates will be expected to give a 20-minute presentation on their vision for the Institute.

Salary:                         Remuneration is commensurate with the seniority of the position
