Two vacancies for Postgraduate
Assistants exist in the Department of Information Science
Postgraduate
Assistants will be required to register for a Doctoral or Master’s degree
at Unisa in the Department
of Information Science. Applicants are
required to indicate in detail on their CVs the extent to which their
qualifications and experience meet the requirements of the post as set out
below.
The Degree programme may focus on
any one of the following:
·
Archives and records management
·
Information and
communication technologies
·
Knowledge Management
·
Information
organisation and retrieval
Requirements:
(i) For the doctoral
student:
·
A relevant master’s
degree in Library/Information Science from any Institution recognised by UNISA
Senate and with an overall average of 60%,
·
Applicants must be
South African citizens.
(ii) For the master’s
student:
·
An Honours degree (or
equivalent) in Library/Information Science from any Institution recognised by
UNISA Senate and with an overall average of 60%
·
Applicants must be
South African citizens.
The
successful candidates will:
Duties:
·
Depending on the
operational needs of the Department, the successful candidate will be required
to perform a variety of tasks, which may include the following:
Ø Assisting researchers with administrative duties regarding research
Ø Participation in appropriate research activities of the Department
Ø Deliver jointly with his/her supervisor, one conference paper annually in
his/her area of research and in local conference.
Ø Publish jointly with his/her supervisor, one standard article annually
in his/her area of research and in any journal under the name of UNISA as the
institutional affiliation.
Ø Conduct limited
undergraduate teaching

Any change in conditions of

African equivalent of the qualification. These qualifications are evaluated by
SAQA. The contact details of three contactable references must be provided.
